Scarce Marlin Model 1895 Lever Action Saddlering Carbine, #313678, .40-65 cal., 22'' blue barrel and mag tube, case hardened frame, lever and hammer; smooth walnut stock and forend. Mfg'd 1905 with only approx. 256 produced. Top of barrel marked ''Marlin Fire-Arms Co., New-Haven, CT. U.S.A./Pat'd Oct. 11. 1887. April 2. 1889. Aug. 1. 1893./Special Smokeless Steel''. With standard Carbine front and rear sights. Top of frame marked ''Marlin Safety''; upper tang marked ''Model/1895.'' Condition is fine retaining approx. 90% lightly thinning and toning blue to barrel and mag tube, with moderate thinning to high edges of barrel band. Frame retains approx. 35%-40% lightly silvering case colors. Stock with light scuffs and pressure dings but still retaining approx. 95% original varnish. Action is crisp, bore is near mirror bright. An extremely scarce short Marlin seldom seen outside the finest collections. Est.: $6,000-$8,000. (C&R)
