Scarce Limited Production Remington M700/M40 U.S.M.C. "Scout Sniper Association" Commemorative Rifle with Original 1968/70 Vintage Second Pattern USMC Style Redfield Accu-Range Scope with Correct Badger M40 Mount

This is an as new Remington M700/M40 "Scout Sniper Association" Commemorative sniper rifle as produced in 2005-06. These were a limited edition rifle, hand-built/assembled in the Remington custom rifle shop, to ensure superior accuracy and conformance to original Vietnam era M40 Sniper rifle specifications. These rifles were endorsed and Authenticated by the "USMC Scout/Sniper Association" as to their originality and were issued with a special "SSA" serial number prefix, Certificate of Authentication and a large USMC Scout/Sniper Association brass commemorative medallion. The rifle specs include an M40 pattern medium weight barrel (now rotary forged) a "U.S." roll marked and "clip-slotted" M40 pattern receiver; M40 pattern walnut stock without checkering with the correct style heavy checkered aluminum buttplate, and 1 1/2 inch wide sling swivels designed for military style slings. This rifle is complete with an even rarer, very limited production, authentic Vietnam M40 pattern one-piece scope mount and rings set manufactured by "Badger Ordnance". Also included is an original 1968/70 era Redfield Accu-Range 3X9 rifle scope that duplicates the second pattern sniper scopes used by the USMC in Vietnam. These scopes are described/pictured on pg., 223-230 of the book; "The One Round War, USMC Snipers in Vietnam" by Senich. This version has the all black-baked on exterior finish and is complete with the original and functional 600 yds, internal celluloid, range-finder scope reticle. These scopes were very unique for this era as they allowed "one-round" hits out to 600-800 meters. It was primitive but very effective! This rifle includes the original Vietnam era M40 type green canvas sling, factory information sheet and warranty cards etc. It is complete with the original Remington Arms matching numbered SSA shipping box and green outer sleeve marked "Remington M40 Vietnam Era M40".

Excellent as new with 99% original factory parkerized finish. The stock is also like new and so are the sling and commemorative coin. The shipping box and outer sleeve are both excellent with some minor wear marks on the corners of the outer sleeve but is all intact, with the colored pictures/markings and lettering on the outside in excellent like new condition. The bolt may have been installed and cycled, but the rifle is unfired, with new bore. The Redfield scope retains 99% of its original black finish with a small slight mark on the underside of the tube, with crystal clear optics. The range-finding reticle and small celluloid range scale inside are completely intact and function correctly, and the windage and elevation knobs also turn correctly and are not frozen. The Badger Ordnance M40 mount set (with original mounting screws) is new in the original shipping box with 99% original parkerized finish, never having been installed or mounted on the rifle. A super example of a scarce like new USMC Scout/Sniper Association commemorative rifle. If you can't afford $15-20K for an original M40, this would be an excellent collection rifle and one that you could take to the range!
