Scarce Iron Mounted Remington Percussion Revolving Rifle

Manufactured from 1866 to 1879, with total quantity estimated at less than 1,000. These revolving rifles were built on the frame of the New Model revolver series. These rifles had a slightly longer cylinder and a longer loading lever. The top barrel flat is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858 (traces remain)/E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A./NEW-MODEL" ahead of the rear sight and the serial number is marked on the bottom barrel flat and on the lower tang. Dovetailed blade front and folding leaf rear sights, casehardened frame and loading lever with the remaining surfaces blue. Fitted with the correct iron scroll type trigger guard with spur and iron crescent buttplate on a straight grip stock. Most specimens encountered have brass mountings, making this example even rarer.

Good. The rifle has a smooth dark patina overall with crisp markings on the barrel. There is deep pitting on the cylinder, otherwise some very scattered minor pitting overall. The loading lever is a crude repaired, possibly a replacement with replaced catch. The stock is fine with some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.
