An exceptional and rare Hohokam face effigy jar from the Classic Period (approx. 1150–1500 CE), featuring red-on-buff painted designs. The vessel is a testament to the sophisticated pottery-making techniques of the ancient Hohokam people of the American Southwest. Its classic form, with a globular body and an anthropomorphic face applied to the neck, makes it a highly desirable and unique piece.
This effigy vessel was expertly assembled from three large, authentic pieces, with minimal to no modern restoration. The piece displays natural wear and surface degradation consistent with its age and long-term burial.
5 1/2"D, 5 3/4"H
