Scarce High Condition Colt Rimfire Single Action Revolver, #1394, .44 RF (Henry) cal., 7-1/2'' barrel, nickel finish, with one-piece walnut grips. These revolvers are considered scarce with only approx. 1863 mfg'd, with most mfg'd between 1875-1878. Revolvers in this caliber show hard use due to the fact that because the cartridge was obsolete, many were shipped to foreign countries where hard use and little care was the norm. Many were later converted to .22 LR prior to their shipment. Condition is near excellent. Barrel and ejector rod tube retain approx. 94% thinning nickel with small areas of lifting finish to top of ejector rod housing. Cylinder retains 85%-90% nickel with scuffs and scratches to forward edges, and minor erosion to rear portion. Left side recoil shield shows slightly more moderate pitting and cleaning, with only about 30% original nickel remaining in that area; backstrap and triggerguard retain approx. 70% original nickel as well. Vivid case colored hues in protected area of hammer. Cylinder pin may be a later replacement. Grips with fractional shrinkage but generally fit very well. Action is good, bore is very good to near fine and shows no evidence of later lengthening. Est.: $8,000-$12,000. (Antique)
