Scarce Four Screw Frame Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver

Manufactured in 1856 with the four screw frame cut for a shoulder stock and is fitted with a factory sling swivel directly in front of the trigger guard. The top barrel flat is marked with the one line address and "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas naval battle scene and marked "OLTS PATENT No74636" (not a typo the "C" is absent). The complete matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, cylinder and back strap, with the partial serial number "4636" on the wedge, loading lever and cylinder pin. Blue barrel, back strap, and cylinder, casehardened frame, hammer and loading lever, and silver plated trigger guard. Fitted with a smooth varnished one-piece grip.

Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth brown patina. The trigger guard retains half of the age darkened silver plating. The grip is good with some wear on the lower edges, and a few minor dings and dents. The cylinder scene is faint, but visible. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
