Scarce Five Inch Barrel Smith & Wesson Number 2 Civil War Range Old Army Revolver
Manufactured from 1861 to 1874. This model was very successful commercially. It is marked with the one line address on top of the barrel rib and patent dates around the cylinder. Blade front and notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer, trigger and ejection rod. Fitted with smooth two piece varnished walnut grips. Matching serial number on butt and inside of the right grip panel.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 75% original thinning blue finish. The frame retains 70% original thin blue finish with a smooth gray on the front and backstraps. The cylinder has a smooth gray patina. There are a few scratches around the side plate screw. The hammer retains strong original faded case colors and the ejector rod and trigger have a smooth silver gray patina. The grips are excellent with 95% original finish remaining, some mild lower edge wear and a few small minor dings. The markings are crisp and clear. There is a little play in the barrel hinge. The action is fine.
