Scarce First Type Marlin Model 1891 Lever Action Rifle

Introduced in 1891, the First Type Rifle used a loading gate in the side of the receiver with a spring loaded cover, a lever-activated trigger block safety and a drift-adjustable rear sight, features that were eliminated early in production. Blade front and silver line accented rear sights with the two line address and patent dates on the upper barrel flat and "MARLIN SAFETY" on the round receiver top. Fitted with a smooth forearm and straight wrist stock with a metal forearm tip and curved buttplate.

Very fine as partially refinished (cold blue on top of chamber and rear barrel flat), with 90% of the original blue finish on the balance, showing areas of brown patina, bright grey along the high edges, and scattered handling marks. Light scratches are visible around the takedown screw and magazine dovetail. Stock is also very fine with some dings and varnish loss. Mechanically excellent.
