Scarce Factory Engraved Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver
This is an example of a rare factory engraved Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver that was manufactured in 1869. The revolver has a small "E" stamped next to the serial number on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and backstrap. The "E" indicates that the part was designated by the factory for special fitting, polish and finish. The barrel, frame, trigger guard, hammer, and backstrap are engraved with a floral motif. The top of the barrel has the one line New York address and the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS / PATENT". The cylinder once had the Texas Navy battle scene. The full serial number (183224) is stamped on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and backstrap, with the partial serial number on the cylinder and a replacement unmarked wedge. Fitted with a one piece burl walnut grip.
