Scarce Engraved Bacon Arms Co. Second Type Navy Single Action Revolver

Manufactured in the early 1860s with production estimated at only 325 making these revolvers quite scarce. This example has floral scroll engraving with a punch dot background on the frame. The top barrel flat is marked with the one-line address and the left flat is marked with the two-line Hopkins 1862 patent date. The serial number "112" is stamped on the left side of the front strap under the grip, on the bottom of the barrel, on the rear face of the cylinder and the inside of the right grip is marked "112" in pencil. Dovetailed blade front and frame notch rear sights, blue finish and fitted with varnished smooth walnut grips.

Very good plus. The metal surfaces have a smooth brown patina with strong traces of original blue finish in protected areas. The engraving remains sharp. The grips are fine with much of the original varnish remaining, scattered dings, scratches and high edge wear. Mechanically functions when held upright, does not function when inverted.
