Scarce Early World War II Nazi Production Mauser Model G-41(M) Semi-Automatic Rifle

This is a good example of a late production WWII German Model G-41(M) rifle as manufactured by Mauser. These rifles were produced in 1941/42 in response to the request by the German Weapons office for a semi-automatic rifle. These rifles actually use a combination of both a bolt action mechanism and a gas-operated semi-automatic system. Initially the action had to be charged using a 98K style bolt action function, than after the first shot the rifle would function in a semi-automatic mode through the use of a gas-operation system where exhaust gases were trapped in the muzzle cone to actually drive the operating rod located under the barrel and in turn cycle the action. The top of the receiver is stamped "Eagle/135/G-41(M)/1942" with the actual serial number of the rifle stamped on the left side of the rear sight base. The rifle is fitted with an excellent reproduction walnut stock copied from an original pattern that has a small Eagle/135 proof in the pistol grip area, that is fitted with an original steel cupped butt plate and short walnut handguard. It is complete with an original leather sling, cleaning rod and front sight cover. These are considered very rare today, as they were produced in very limited numbers early in WWII when the Mauser factory was able to use all machined parts and components that required considerable amount of manufacturing time and labor. They were eventually phased out in favor of the G/K43 rifles and they also saw considerable use on the Eastern front and suffered a high attrition rate.

Manufucture: Mauser
Model: G41 (m)
BBL: 22 inch round
Stock: walnut
Guage: 7.92 mm Mauser
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 12309

Fine with 60% of the blue finish overall with wear and thinning on top of the action, barrel bands and muzzle cone. The stock as noted is an excellent reproduction that duplicates the original configuration to include the Waffenamt proof. Regardless this is an extremely rare and early rifle that would be suitable for any high end WWII German rifle collection.
