Scarce Early Production Remington Over Under Double Barrel Derringer
This is a rarely seen Type I, Transitional, a.k.a Model No. 1, First Variant Remington derringer manufactured circa 1867 to 1868. Approximately 100 of these type of derringers were produced. It correctly has the manual extractor on the left center rib. The left center rib is marked "ELLIOT'S. PATENT DEC. 12" (date has been removed due to the extractor) and "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y." on the right center rib. Matching serial number on barrel and frame under the left grip.

Very good. The derringer retains 30% of the original nickel finish (mostly on the frame) with the balance a smooth gray patina. The grips are very fine with the exception of a couple minor gashes and some mild dings and scratches.
