Scarce Early Production Commercial Walther "HP" Pistol in 9 mm Caliber

Manufactured in the late second or early third developmental stage of production in early to mid 1940 that was interspersed with, or right after the Swedish Commercial contract pistols. Chambered in 9mm, this Series pistol is very scarce and is considered to be a true Commercial "HP" P.38 manufactured prior to WWII. The slide is marked with the Walther Banner followed by the two-line factory legend, caliber and "Mod. HP". The matching serial number is located on the inside of the slide, right side of the frame with the front of the barrel lug factory renumbered "2309" under the original number "2252". The bottom of the locking block is also numbered "309". The right side of the slide, frame and barrel are stamped with the early commercial "Eagle/N" proofmark. It has the standard early commercial fixed sights and the correct early black plastic checkered grips. The magazine is a later wartime version stamped:"P.38" on the lower left side with a single "Eagle/WaA708" over "jvd".
