Scarce Early Mannlicher Model 1896/01 Semi-Automatic Carbine, #99, 7.63mm Mannlicher cartridge, 11-3/4'' barrel, blue finish, straw small parts, factory checkered cheekpiece walnut stock and full-length forend. Right side rear receiver flat marked ''J. Canedo, 611 Rivadavia, B. Aires'', a well-known Argentine importer often associated with early Commercial Lugers. Carbine also includes one extra unmarked magazine in single leather belt pouch. Condition is very good to near fine retaining approx. 87%-90% original factory blue. Factory checkered cheekpiece walnut stock shows some oil darkening near metal surfaces, but retains approx. 85% of its original varnish. Smooth tapered forend with no cracks or losses. Action is crisp, bore is good with frosting in the grooves. Extra magazine needs final fitting. Est.: $8,000-$12,000. (C&R)
