Scarce Dumonthier Patent Combination Double-Action Revolver and Knife
Combination double-action revolver and knife with Liege proofmarks. This double-action, six-shot 11M/M pinfire revolver, has a part-octagon barrel with 12-inch knife blade. The revolver has two-piece wooden grips with iron screw escutcheons, a loading gate on the right side of the frame and a round butt with a lanyard ring. The unidentified revolver is very similar to the Belgium 11 M/M Lefaucheux double-action revolver with the exception of the combination knife/barrel. The left side of the barrel lug is roll-stamped: "DUMONTHIER/BREVET BTG" in two lines. An oval, Liege, proofmark is stamped on the cylinder. The revolver was probably manufactured in the early-mid 1860s.

The revolver is in good condition with scattered light pitting no visible original finish. The knife blade/barrel is bright with scattered pitting and age discoloration. The frame, cylinder and hammer have a brown patina with scattered light pitting. The barrel markings and proofmarks are faint. The grips are also in good condition with moderate handling wear. The DA action is tight and functions well. This is an interesting example of a scarce Liege proofed, pinfire, double-action combination knife-pistol.
