Manufactured circa 1880. The left side of the top strap is marked "MY FRIEND PAT. DEC. 26. 1865". The grip area is engraved with floral scroll with a punch dot background, with a sunburst pattern on the front of the frame and the top the grip, and a checkered shield on the back. Matching serial numbers are present on the frame, cylinder and cylinder pin. This pistol is pictured on page 157 of Taylor Bowen's book "James Reid and his Catskill Knuckledusters" (lower plate, 3rd down on left).

Very fine. 85% of the original nickel plating remain showing flaking gently along the high edges, with a deep patina on the exposed brass and scattered light handling marks and scratches overall. The engraving is crisp. The action is fine.
