Scarce Devisme Cartridge Revolver with Confederate Association

Most famously associated with the Confederate States of America due to the Devisme Sword carried by Robert E. Lee when he surrendered to the Union Army at the Appomattox Courthouse, Devisme of Paris was known to have supplied weapons to a number of top Confederates, including President Jefferson Davis. This revolver is believed to be one of a small batch of 50 that was brought into New Orleans during the Civil War. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "Devisme a Paris" on top of the barrel. The barrel is locked to the frame with a swiveling key, which is fitted with a gear arrangement to automatically position the ejector rod when the breech is unlocked. Checkered bag shaped grips, with a pair of screw escutcheons on each side and a lanyard swivel on the butt.

Good, showing a bright gray patina overall with some shallow pitting and mild handling marks. The grips are good as lightly cleaned, with a small chip absent from the right panel and mild dents overall. Mechanically very good.
