Scarce DWM Model 1914 Commercial Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol

These DWM Model 1914 Commercial Lugers are a scarce variation that are seldom found. The key aspect in determining this as a true Model 1914 commercial are that it has the five digit commercial serial number range of 71,500 to 73,500. It has the 1914 stock lug, and is fitted with the hold-open device, new style 1914 frame with the coil spring. The chamber area is blank with the rear toggle having the DWM logo markings. The right side of the barrel extension has three crown over script letter proofs and the "Crown/N" is on the left side. The "Crown/N" is also found on the underside of the barrel and left side of the breechblock. It is correctly numbered as a commercial Luger with the full five digit serial number stamped on the underside of the barrel, the front of the frame with the last four digits of the serial number stamped on the underside of the barrel extension, in front of and on top of the frame lug; i.e. "18" and "66". The last two digits of the serial number "66" are stamped on the various parts in the correct commercial fashion. This example is correctly chambered in 9 mm Luger and it has the standard extractor and safety marking. Nickel magazine with wooden base numbered to the gun and fitted with checkered walnut grips.

Very fine. The pistol retains 85% plus original blue finish with some muzzle and high point wear, a small area of minor pitting on the side plate and front strap toe, and a small amount of very light spotting on the grip straps. The safety lever has faded to a silver gray patina with some light pitting and strong original straw color in the protected areas and the remaining small parts retain most of the original straw color. The grips are excellent with a few minor dings and nicks, and very crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically fine.
