Scarce DWM 1908 Military First Issue Luger Pistol

First issue Model 1908 DWM Military with the hold-open device which was added to most 1908s in 1913. These 1908 models (serial number range 34 to approximately 4828b) were the first true German Military contract Lugers and are identified by having no date on top of the chamber area, military proofs the left barrel extension and no stock lug. The front toggle has the DWM logo. Full serial number on the frame and barrel with various small parts having the last two digits of the serial number. The safety and extractor are both correctly marked and it has checkered walnut grips and nickel plated magazine with wooden base marked "GERMANY." The front strap is unit marked "89.R.10.1." (Grenadier-Regiment of the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg). This regiment was stationed in Schwerin, Germany and is one of the oldest Prussian Regiments, having been founded in 1782.

Fine. The pistol retains 60% faded original blue finish mostly thinning to a brown. The small parts retain over 25% original straw color. Some scattered minor pitting is present. The grips are very good with a small chip missing near the safety lever and some bruising in the checkering.
