Scarce Colt Rimfire Single Action Revolver, #694, .44 RF (Henry) cal., 7-1/2'' barrel, blue and case hardened finish, with one-piece bone ivory grips. In period tooled leather belt and holster containing fifteen (15) .44 Henry RF cartridges. These revolvers are considered scarce with only approx. 1863 mfg'd, with most mfg'd between 1875-1878. Revolvers in this caliber show hard use due to the fact that because the cartridge was obsolete, many were shipped to foreign countries where hard use and little care was the norm. Many were later converted to .22 LR prior to their shipment. This particular example was shipped June 28, 1876, to Mayer & Geiger, Omaha, NE. Buttstrap later marked ''Douglas Co. SO'' (probably for Sheriff's office). Includes factory letter verifying caliber, barrel length and finish. Condition is about good retaining little original finish and showing possible later coloring to cylinder. Markings remain crisp. Grip panels have toned and show fractional overall shrinkage. Action is good, bore is very good. Period holster shows good detail to impressed design, with crazing and repairs to belt loops. Est.: $8,000-$12,000. (Antique)
