Scarce Colt Model 1855 Revolving Carbine
The Model 1855 was manufactured from 1856 to 1864 with few made in the carbine configuration. This example has a blade front sight with graduated folding leaf rear sight. The "Col Colt" address is visible on the top strap, a faint patent marking is visible on one of the cylinder flutes, the upper tang is marked "COLTS / PATENT and the serial number is marked on the upper and lower tangs. There are sling swivels mounted on the bottom of the frame and rear of the lower tang. Mounted with a smooth straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have a dark patina with scattered traces of the original blue finish and scattered minor pitting. The stock has been lightly sanded and varnished and shows a couple of minor gouges and overall minor dings and dents. The action is fine. A solid example of a scarce Colt 1855 revolving carbine.
