Manufactured circa 1883 - 1885. This rifle is a very rare variation with a 1/2 octagon barrel. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address/patent dates ahead of the rear sight. The serial number is marked on the lower tang directly behind the trigger and the top of the lever is marked "+BURGESS'S PATENTS+". Brass blade front and replacement fixed rear sights. Full length magazine tube and mounted with a smooth forearm with steel end cap and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate with buttstock compartment. This was Colt's only attempt at a lever action rifle to compete with Winchester.
