Scarce Colt Bisley Model Single Action Revolver in 38 Colt Caliber

Manufactured in 1900. This revolver is one of only 412 Bisley model revolvers chambered in the 38 Colt cartridge. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. M.F.A. Co. Hartford CT. U.S.A.", the left side "(Beasley MODEL) .38 COLT." and the underside is marked with the caliber designation "38" at the breech. The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "81". A "7" inspection mark is stamped in the hammer well above the firing pin hole. The complete matching serial number is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The rear face of the cylinder is stamped with the partial serial number "299". The revolver has the Colt commercial blue finish on the barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap, with the frame, hammer and loading gate having a casehardened finish. The revolver has the distinctive Beasley Model grips with "humpbacked" profile, special back strap and trigger guard, 3/16-inch higher frame, curved wide spur hammer and long wide trigger. Fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top.

Excellent. The barrel and ejector housing retain 95% of the original blue finish with some minor wear at the muzzle and on the front edge of the ejector housing. The cylinder has light turn marks with minor handling wear on the front and rear edges and the edges of the chamber flutes. There is moderate finish wear on the grip strap and lighter wear on the back strap and butt. The frame retains 90% plus of the original vivid case colors. The case colors on the loading gate have started to silver. The hammer has 80% of the casehardened finish with some silvering on the sides and spur. The trigger retains half of the niter blue finish. Nearly all of the niter blue is present on the frame screws. The grips are fine. The checkering on the lower portion of the grips shows moderate handling wear and there is a notch on the center of the left grip and several shallow dents on the lower edge of the right grip. The markings are sharp. The action is crisp and functions perfectly. This is an attractive example of a scarce 38 Colt Beasley Model Single Action Revolver.
