Issued during a narrow window between February and July of 1934, the Rohm Honor Dagger was created by SA Chief Ernst Rohm for issue to SA men who had been part of the organization before the Nazi Party rose to power. Following the Night of Long Knives, a general order was issued to remove any existing inscription, which in this case was followed with a hand file. 13 1/2 inches overall, with an 8 5/8 inch blade showing the standard etching on the obverse, and traces of the "In Herzlicher Freundschaft Ernst Rohm" (In Heartfelt Friendship, Ernst Rohm) inscription over the Wingen makers mark. Proper 1933 configuration hilt, with "He" on the crossguard, and brown finished, nickel fitted sheath.

Very good plus, with a small patch of pitting on the obverse side of the blade, some rust on the reverse, and mild handling marks. The period Nazi modification of filing off the "Rohm" inscription off the otherwise fine blade is typical and absolutely authentic. The grip shows fading of the finish, with mild handling marks. Pitting is visible on the otherwise fine sheath, especially on the back side, with minor dents and spotting on the fittings.
