Manufactured in 1896, this special order Model 1894 rifle features a 22" extra light tapered round barrel (extremely rare on this early production model 1984; quiet possibly one of the earliest known) with a ramped Lyman blade front, adjustable rear sporting and tang mounted short range peep sights. The top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked with the two line address, to the left of the rear sight is marked with the nickel steel marking and the top breech end is marked "30 W.C.F.". The serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame. Half magazine and mounted with nicely figured checkered walnut correct short and slender forearm with steel forend cap and pistol grip stock with hard rubber Winchester grip cap and steel shotgun style buttplate. The included photocopy of the factory letter confirms the serial number, rifle configuration, 30 caliber, 22" round barrel, half magazine, checkered pistol grip stock, shotgun buttplate, extra light, and Lyman front sight. The rifle was received in the warehouse on October 14, 1898 and shipped on October 17, 1898.

The checkering shows moderate to heavy wear with all of the checkering pattern visible. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
