Scarce Ames Mfg. Co. Model 1840 U.S. sword and scabbard with rare late dated blade of 1858. This sword is in overall excellent condition showing the majority of its original polish, excellent wire wrapped gripand brass guard; top of pommel is “WAT” and “JH” inspected and the blade is also “JH” inspector marked; the metal scabbard is in fine condition showing some aging and spots of erosion; a 9.5 on a scale of 10.
