Scarce Allen & Wheelock Center Hammer Lipfire Navy Revolver with Holster and Two Boxes of Ethan Alle
Also known as the 3rd Model lipfire, these revolvers were manufactured in the early 1860s with around 500 produced, and although no government contracts were given for this model, it is considered by collectors as a martial piece. This example features fixed sights, a 6 shot round cylinder with notches for cartridge lips at the rear wall. Blue with casehardened hammer and trigger guard. The left barrel flat is marked "ALLEN & WHEELOCK WORCHESTER, MASS. U.S. / ALLEN'S PAT'S, SEPT. 7, NOV. 9, 1858." Matching serial number on the left side of the frame under the grip, loading gate latch, back of both grips, cylinder pin, and cylinder. Fitted with smooth walnut grips. Complete with a leather flap holster and two rare boxes for 12 Ethan Allen No. 56 Navy revolver cartridges.
