This is one of a military contract manufactured 1936 to 1939. The top of the chamber is dated 1937 and the Mauser banner is marked on the toggle. "Crown/U" proof on the left side of the barrel extension and on the left side of the breechblock. The matching serial number is marked on the left side barrel extension, front of the frame and on the bottom of the barrel. "42" is marked on most of the small components. The extractor is marked "GELADEN" and "RUST" over the safety switch, with downward pointing arrow. The front strap is marked "K.M.". Blue finish with straw colored small components, fixed sights, stock lug on the back strap, blue magazine with pot metal base numbered to another gun (2222), and fitted with checkered walnut grips.

Condition: Arsenal refurbished with 95% blue finish remaining, with scattered areas of minor pitting under the finish. Almost all of the straw color remains on the small components. The slightly undersize replacement grips are very fine with a few nicks and dings, faint letters carved into the right panel, with overall crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
