Saxon Royal Court Style Wheel LockPistol with finely inlaid stocks, showing gold gilt bronze accents, detailed quality engraving and inlay throughout, the diminutive wheel lock measures 9.5" overall, 4-7/8" barrel of approximately .40 cal, themechanism is fully intact and working, stock is beautifully inlaid with bone-ivory (shinbone) which was boiled and polished to look like elephant ivory, shows inlays and scenes of cavaliers, knight on horsebackfighting lion with sword, florals, dots, geometrics, demons and classic designs of the 17th century, butt cap shows a Saxon-type lion, ball butt is strapped with gilt bronze accents, spaced with faces of angels in small medallions inlaid in a row at the center of the stock, hammer, edge of the lock plate and backstrap are finely engraved, wheel cover is pierced brass ornamented with serpents, metal surfaces show some light rust, minorpitting and erosion. This masterpiece of the gun makers art was made in the 19th to 20th century in our opinion.
