One of Rohmer's most popular novels, The Mask of Fu Manchu was immediately optioned by MGM upon its publication in 1932. Though the "insidious Dr. Fu Manchu" became one of Boris Karloff's most famous portrayals (along with the Frankenstein Monster and the Mummy), the actor disliked the faux-Asian role intensely, and recalled having "to speak pidgin English while wearing a particularly bad makeup." This is a fine example of a popular novel that inspired a controversial film classic. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
