SN: 53C3905 WWII era British military magazine fed bolt action service rifle chambered in .303 British. Produced in the United States by Savage-Stevens for the war effort via the lend-lease program. Features a blued finish, 25.2" barrel with integral bayonet lugs, shrouded patridge front sight, receiver mounted flip-up dual aperture "L" rear sight, two barrel bands, serrated trigger, detachable 10 round magazine, manual safety on the left side of the receiver, tan canvas sling, integral charge loading guide cuts in the receiver, smooth full-length wood handguard & forend and straight grip shoulder stock with brass trapdoor buttplate containing a plastic oiler. The left side of the receiver is marked with a Birmingham nitro proof mark, "U.S. PROPERTY" and "S No 4 Mk 1.* The majority of the metal surfaces display an aged brown patina but the barrel bands retain the majority of their black painted finish and magazine shows some strong bluing. Action is smooth but the bolt head has the ability to occasionally pop out of the slot in the rail, the two land bore is very good and the wood stocks are good to very good.
