Savage Navy Model Percussion Revolver
Manufactured from 1861 to the mid-1860s with approximately 20,000 produced. Approximately 12,000 were made on government contracts, while the balance of the sales were primarily civilian. This revolver is a scarce civilian example. Standard three line address and patent markings on top strap. The serial number is marked on the frame under the grip. This unusual revolver employs Henry S. North's patent whereby the cylinder is first pulled to the rear by the large ring trigger, then rotated and moved forward to lock over the rear of the barrel. The hammer is cocked at the same time. The action is fired by pulling the upper more normal trigger. There is a post front sight and "V" notch rear sight.
