Action Type: Lever Action with Internal Rotary Magazine

Markings: The top of the barrel is marked SAVAGE ARMS CO UTICA NY USA
PAT FEB 7 93 JULY 25 93 OCT 3 99 CAL 30 and then closer to receiver 30-30.
The bottom of the receiver is marked 45767.

Barrel Length: 24 inches 1/2 Octagonal 1/2 Round

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a
Buckhorn style u-notch sight - The top tang has a pair of filled holes.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece walnut with a straight
comb, Cresent shaped metal buttplate, and semi-beavertail forend.
There are some mild scratches, nicks, and compressions scattered throughout the
stocks. There is what appears to be a repair made to stock behind the receiver.

Bore Condition: The bore is a litte frosted and the rifling is evident.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 50% of its metal finish to the barrel. The
receiver has very little original finish. The receiver has minor scuffs and scratches.
There is standard operational wear.
The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Fair condition.
Mechanics: The action functions as intended.

The Savage 1899/99 model rifles have quite a history. They were preceded by the
Model 1895, which was the first hammerless lever-action rifle produced.
A hammerless action was useful as it reduces the lock time, allows the rifle to be
fired more accurately and is less likely to jam in brush or snag in clothing.
The 1899/99 models added a counter to the spool to indicate how many rounds are
loaded.
