Savage Model 99 .250-3000 Sav SN: 574807
Lever action rifle chambered for 250-3000 Savage, manufactured circa 1950. Features blued finish, 24" barrel, rotary magazine with brass "cartridge counter" indicator, ramp front sight, rear sight removed (and dovetail filled with a small block of steel), scope bases that accept weaver type rings (no rings), manual safety that doubles as a lever lock, cocking indicator. walnut butt stock with checkering at wrist, walnut forend with checkering at sides, steel buttplate, blued steel sling studs (that appear to accept the European style hooks). Bore is in excellent condition. Finish is 80% overall, with significant graying and thinning of the bluing on left side and bottom of receiver, and at sharp edges all around receiver. Barrel is dark with few spots of smooth bare metal. Dovetail filler (in place of the missing rear sight) appears to have required some peening of the dovetail edges to get a tight fit. Lever/triggerguard retains much bright case color in the triggerguard area, with thinning and dulling where fingers operate the lever. Buttplate shows bluing in the grooves and gray at flat areas. Stock is very good with some small dents and scratches in places. Handguard is a visual match to stock, and is a bit loose. Condition is NRA Fine ***C&R Firearm***
