Designed by John Moses Browning, the classic Model 745 is a standard weight semi-auto shotgun chambered for 2 3/4" 12 Gauge shells. This is a vintage semiautomatic shotgun manufactured between 1940 and 1949 in Chicopee Falls, MA. This is a copy of the Browning Auto-5, and is considered the deluxe grade with engravings of a hunting scene with a dog and birds in a marsh. Shotgun features a 28" Barrel, bore measures 'M' with a drop-in gauge, brass bead front sight, aluminum receiver, smooth curved trigger, and an annular cut cross-bolt safety. The hardwood furniture consists of a semi-pistol grip shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, checkered and finger-grooved forend, 14" length-of-pull, 1-3/4" drop at comb, 2-3/4" drop at heel, and red rubber Hawkins ventilated rubber recoil pad. The original blued barrel finish retained is approximately 90% with light scratches, edge wear, and marks from disassembly. The aluminum metal finish is good with fading, and edge wear. Metal displays light rust along the barrel, and there is observed deformation in some of the screw slots. The action is smooth and crisp, and the hard wood furniture is fair to good with a 1/2" hairline crack on the bottom of the forend, light scattered scratches, and a fair amount of missing finish. The bore is fair with what looks like rust at the front of the muzzle.
Condition is NRA Fair to Good.
