Lot of 2 including: 1) Assignment, on legal sized ruled paper, from George Gisin to C. M. Allen on 31 March 1872. Allen received of T. B. Shaup, the Superintendent of the Savage Mine $108.00 on the "within assignment." Gisin worked for the company in the months of March, April, and May. Two adhesive revenue stamps are affixed on the left hand margin of the paper. The first is a green Nevada 5 cent, perf., stamp, and the other is a red, 5 cent, R 24, R 3, perf., stamp. Both are hand cancelled. Yellowing and one tear. Good condition. 2) An unnumbered check issued to The Bank of California for $3, 470.00 by Pacific Insurance Co. It was signed by J. P. Martin on 20 April 1871. The check has no revenue imprint. To the left is a purple vignette of a man holding a sheaf of wheat. Endorsed on the reverse. The back has some water damage, but it does not appear on the front. Hand cancelled "Paid" in black ink on the front. Also, two adhesive revenue stamps are affixed. The first is green 5 cent Nevada stamp, perf., and the second is an orange 2 cent R 14, R 2, perf., U. S. Inter. Rev stamp. Both are marked "Agency, Bank of California, Virginia, Nev."
