Pair of Satsuma vases decorated with two panels of geishas in a garden, one side of the vase shows the garden in spring and the other in autumn. The vases' background is cobalt blue decorated with gold butterflies. The Geishas have gold applications in relief. Both vases are marked at the base with a gold on black cross in a circle (mon) and a Japanese character mark, possibly the artist's signature (completely legible on one of the vases). Crackles are characteristic of Satsuma wares and part of their design. In good used condition with wear to gilt and minor restorations. Additional photos available upon request.
