<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4"><tr><td><em> Extraordinary detail!</em></td></tr><tr> <td width="100%"> Satsuma jar typical of the late Edo Period (1603-1867) decorated on one side with a group of children studying scrolls and on the oppossite side a landscape with water, mountains and flowers. The Edo period was pre-export trade and its pottery had several characteristics which we find in this jar: a) was usually unsigned; b) had enameled decoration including gold; c) depicted the human figure as well as chrysanthemums and other flowers; and d) had an unglazed rim. In good used condition with some wear to gold and crackle characteristic of Satsuma. Please ask questions, request additional photos and shipping costs prior to bidding.
