18th Century Irish Demilune Satinwood
Game Table was believed to be made by Wiliam Moore working
in Dublin Ireland around 1780 -1815. He was a student of John
Mayhew and Willam Ince of London. (Miller's Antiques, Volume
XXI) His use of Amboyna and Tulipwood panels, light and dark
string inlays are all forms of his carpetentry skills. This D-
shaped game table opens to a complete circle. The inside
surface is a tooled black leather which we believe was
replaced. The Hepplewhite legs are tapered to a spade foot. The
finish is not the original, however it is in good order and hand
polished.
This Mahogany Game table is 34" X 29", 30" Tall.
This Backgammon table comes complete with Stones, Dice,
Leather Dice Cups, Doubling Cube, And Copper Coasters.
The playing surface is 24"X 26" with 2" stones. Backgammon
players are usually light hearted, competitive and serious about
their game. We have yet to find one who didn't enjoy playing on this table. Acey-Deucey is one of several other games for this board.
If one has any further questions or would like us to supply other images of this article please don’t hesitate to email us.
