For your consideration in this lot we have a collection of four Sarreguemines French Majolica character jugs originating from the 1880's. The Sarreguemines pottery company was established in 1784 and was known for its floral and fruit pieces along with majolica vases, tureens, and character jugs. The jugs where made by a artists patterned images of people from his village. The jugs show the slightly caricatured faces of four different people, each showing a smiling male face. The pitchers show glazed pottery construction with three numbered across the bottom. The pieces show a colorful exterior with the interior colored blue, green, or tan. The jugs show good condition overall with some light wear on places. The largest of the pitchers measures 8 3/4" tall by 6 1/4" wide.
