French actress (1844–1923), known as ‘The Divine Sarah,’ who became one of the most revered personalities ever to grace the stage. Color vintage 3.5 x 5.5 signed postcard photograph signed “Sarah Bernhardt 1905” across her image in fountain pen. The original sender wrote at the top of the postcard asking whether Bernhardt’s first name was really Rosine, to which the actress replies in French (translated): “My name is also Henriette and Marie.” Postmarked October 4, 1905, in Argentina. In fine condition with handling wear and silvering to some of the darker areas. A unique item from the actress whose full birth name was Sara-Marie-Henriette Rosine Bernard.
