Featured in this lot is this Santee Sioux beaded hide pipe bag circa 1960's. The pipe bag features a wonderfully and professionally crafted hide and beaded construction that shows multiple floral decoration that shows trade beads of Cheyenne pink, medium green, purple, translucent yellow, and clear. The bag features tassels with double row design and ended in small floral decoration. Santee Sioux (also known as the Eastern Dakota) was established in 1863 in present-day Nebraska. Established by an Act of the U.S. Congress on March 3, 1863, the Niobrara Reservation was officially recognized in an Executive Order dated February 27, 1866, and in treaties dated November 16, 1867 and April 29, 1868. The condition of this pipe bag is good with some patina to the hide frame of the bag and shows two of the tassels showing wear or missing but otherwise shows good overall condition.
