Santa Clara Pueblo Carved Jar by Stella Chavarria, measures 4''H x 4''W and features Avanyu (Sea Serpent), highly burnished, Stella Chavarria (Santa Clara) was born in 1939 and has been creating pottery since approximately 1955. She is the daughter of Teresita Naranjo, and niece to Mida Tafoya & Mary Cain. Stella creates both black-on-black and carved red ware. She is featured in Pueblo Indian Pottery 750 Artist Biographies - Schaaf. Her favorite design is Avanyu.
