Kubera

In Sanskrit Kubera means the ‘ill-shaped one’. Thus the god of wealth is commonly represented with a big belly and often accompanied by a mongoose. His attributes are a money bag, mace or pomegranate. Kubera is further considered a directional guardian (dikpala) of the North in Hindu cosmology. He is also a popular figure in Buddhism and Jainism.

Condition: The relief is in fair condition consistent with age. Traces of a later coat of paint are visible. The height (without base) measures 30 cm.
