Montoya. Helen's painting on pottery was always exceptional. She was very talented in forming a pottery vessel, polishing it, painting the design, and achieving a good firing. She was from a famous family of artists. The late, well-known potter, Helen Gutierrez was from San Ildefonso Pueblo and married into the Santa Clara Pueblo. After her marriage, Helen continued to pot in the traditional San Ildefonso style and always signed her potter as San Ildefonso.''
