By Crocker-Langley. This 2011 page directory covers all businesses, person names, banks, and major roadways for the city of San Francisco, California. The directory gives a comparison between number of names listed in the 1909 directory and the 1908 directory. San Francisco grew by almost 8,000 people in that time span. The directory begins with 86 pages of advertisements for city businesses. A select number of businesses, community clubs and societies, organizations, hospitals, and places that bare importance are indexed in the within the first several pages; an index that is succeeded by another index of advertisements that can be found continuously throughout the directory. Miscellaneous information and places are listed through page 85. From pages 86 through 121, city streets, avenues and major intersections are listed alphabetically. Next on pages 122-1686 is an alphabetical list of the city’s residents. On pink, coated paper after the names section is a list of San Francisco’s leading banks, which exists from pg. 1687 to 1702. The classified general business directory is found on pages 1703-2011. All pages are bordered with black and white bold faced advertisements. The book’s binding is fragile and is partially detached from the majority of the pages. The covers are worn and a few of the imprinted ads are starting to fade. The exterior edges of the pages bare a resemblance to minor smoke discoloration. On the other hand, the faces of the pages and their material are in very good shape and all the print is legible.
