<B>San Francisco, CA</B></I> - $20 Original National Gold Bank Note Fr. 1152 <B>The First National Gold Bank</B></I> Ch. # 1741<BR> This example is a bright and attractive piece which is amazingly problem free for any National Gold Bank Note, let alone a $20 example. This bank is the only one which is affordable to most collectors in this denomination, and one which is available often enough so that accurate price comparisons can be established. This piece can be pedigreed back to the J.T. Wright collection, then to the Hickman-Oakes auction of April, 1978, which is where Tom obtained it. A similar note in identical grade (with, interestingly, the next serial number to this piece) was sold at auction last year for $69,000.
