British explorer, naturalist, and military officer (1821–1893) best known for expeditions to the Nile and interior of central Africa, and for his exploits as a big game hunter throughout the world. ALS signed “Sam’l W. Baker,” one page both sides, 4.25 x 7, personal letterhead, no date. Letter making arrangements. In part: “We luncheon at 2 P. M.—but pray come at 1.” In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds (vertical fold passing through middle initial in the signature).
