<B>Samuel Rogers <I>The Pleasures of Memory and Other Poems</B></I></B></I> (London: Printed for T. Caldwell, Jun. and W. Davies, 1799), new and enlarged edition, 188 pages, 16mo (4" x 6.5"), contemporary calf, gilt spine and decoration, 2 engraved plates by J. Heath and I. Nagel, gilt fore edges, contemporary signature and date on title page. Samuel Rogers (1763 -1855) was an early supporter of Dickens and became one of his closest associates. Rogers was reputed to be the basis for Grandfather Smallweed in <I>Bleak House>Q and Dickens dedicated his book <I>Master Humphrey's Clock</B></I> to Rogers. That dedication has been hand written on the reverse of the front free endpaper by a contemporary owner of the book. Very good condition with bumped corners and light shelf wear.
