<B>Samuel Hammond Autograph Letter Signed,</B></I> "<I>S. Hammond</B></I>", 4.5" x 7.25", regarding the silk trade with Japan. Hammond served under Nathaniel Green in the American Revolutionary War as a commander of cavalry. He commanded Georgia Volunteers in the Creek War. President Thomas Jefferson appointed Hammond military and civil governor of Upper Louisiana Territory. He later served as a member of the Eighth Congress. The letter is undated.
